I recently went to a waterpark, and I was swimming in the wave pool with a friend. Now, I’m a NAUI certified Advanced Scuba Diver, and I had just bought a new dive mask (goggles that cover your eyes and nose). It was a nice day, and the waterpark was pretty empty, so I thought I’d just relax in the wave pool for a bit and try out my new toy.

As soon as the lifeguard saw me she started blowing her whistle, pointing at me, and yelling for me to "remove your goggles immediately!!" Needless to say I was pretty embarrassed, so I flipped them up on top of my head, swam over to her chair, and asked her what the problem was.

She said "You’re wearing goggles! And those are strictly forbidden!". I calmly asked "Why?", and she paused to stare at the sky and think. She said she didn’t actually know why, but she was told that the rules stated that it was forbidden and that she would have to kick me out of the park if I didn’t comply. I was too embarrassed to push the issue further, so I just took them off, and went about my day without them.

Now, maybe I could understand if they had safety problems with a full dive mask bumping around or getting caught on a large water slide. But I see people wearing sunglasses all the time, and it seems that this would pose just as much risk as eye goggles, if not more, because they’re not strapped on and could fly off and hit someone. To this day, I still can’t think of a good reason, but I just saw the rules at another waterpark that expressly stated the same warning.

So, does anyone that has worked at a waterpark have a definitive answer for me? Or am I just missing something?
I’ve entertained the notion that it’s due to check out a girl’s bottom while holding my breath and diving underwater. But I think that’s just silly.

If I wanted to check out booty all day, why would I go through all the trouble of swimming out, holding my breath for long periods of time, and diving down just to catch a glance at 1-or-2 backsides.

If that’s the reason, then I would just simply stay in a lounge chair near a walkway with sunglasses on, and watch as thousands of cute butts bounce by on land.

Now, I wouldn’t go to a waterpark just to gawk at women, but if that’s the reason, then why aren’t sunglasses banned?

A tiger shark objected to having it’s photograph taken and sent two scuba divers swimming for cover. The divers, scientists from the National Oceanographic Society were taking pictures for an upcoming article featuring the hammerhead’s unique shaped head. After slowly circling the divers, the shark suddenly tried to butt them with its head. Bob Noble, the diver armed with a rifle, made it into the diving cage first. Brian Block, the second diver, dropped both his camera and his tank as he swam to safety. Hammerhead sharks have been known to attack people, and the scientists were leaving nothing to chance. "Next time, we’ll get his permission first", said the shaken Mr. Block.

My brother-in-law keeps insisting we do SNUBA as opposed to snorkeling on our Hawaii trip. I’m really concerned about the safety of this! I once talked with a woman who regularly SCUBA dives and she said SCUBA is pretty dangerous really, and you can kill yourself easily if you aren’t careful! I read about risk of air embolism on wikipedia. Is this really easy to mess up and get air embolism? I fear for my and my husband’s lives, that we may accidentally do something wrong, cuz it’s new, and accidently die.

I know this sounds crazy, but just HOW easy is it to mess up and how dangerous is this? Do you advise against SNUBA?

what is the best name for my hotel and also the restaurant and cafe??
I plan to build a five star resort hotel which is located in Apo Island, five kilometers off the coast of Dauin, and twenty kilometers from Dumaguete City, Province of Negors Oriental. You can fly between Dumaguete and Manila on your choice of two flights per day [morning and afternoon] on each of two airlines: Air Philippines [owned by Philippines Airlines or Cebu Pacific. The flights from Manila takes approximately by an hour; another ten minutes are taken by the taxi or tricycle to downtown. You can also get there by thirty-minute travel time by land from Dumaguete airport plus forty-five to sixty minutes by pump boat. There are also many sites that you can visit Marine Sanctuary and Protected Seascape, Clown Fish City is in the marine sanctuary, Katipanan, Chapel Balay, Largahan, Olo, Mamsa, Kan-Oran, The Lighthouse. And activities like Scuba Diving, snorkeling, video outside the sanctuary and outside the landscape and camping.

The resort hotel is kind of expensive. It consists 75 rooms, which features are Safety deposit box, IDD/NDD phone system fully-stocked minibar/refrigerator, sky cable television, hairdryer & clothesline, kitchenette facilities (Deluxe and Suites only). 10 rooms per floor, and also function rooms that are perfect for private conferences to lavish parties, as well as state-of-the-art business center, complete with Internet connection and desktop publishing services. And for fun and activities try your luck at bass fishing, outdoor hot spring pool, complimentary bikes, or indulge in lawn games or team sports like softball, or volleyball. After the big game, reminisce about your big play over drinks with friends in our sports bar. Spa for relaxing, salon for grooming, and an international and Filipino cuisine at my 5 star restaurant. Want to relax? Have some coffee at my café. And gym to warm up, aerobics, or body building.

I’m planning on going from February- June.

Here is what I want:

1) Friendly locals, where it is easy to meet people.
2) Some sort of fun night scene
3) Safety
4) Natural Beauty
5) Beaches- I would love to get really into scuba diving, so warm water is a necessity.
6) Lots of cool outdoor stuff to do (treks, safaris, ect…)
7) Cool, interesting wildlife nearby
Any schools in these areas known for getting students involved in Oceanography, Marine Biology, Geology, or Environmental Science? I’m a Geology/Environmental Science major, and I love the water, so I would love to get involved in something like that.
9) A low cost of living would definitely be a plus

I’m really excited but having a hard time deciding, so input and opinions would be great! Thanks!!

I’ll be scuba diving and a little bit of offshore/inshore fishing with this boat in waters probably 70-100ft. I heard about leaving RODE but that would require like 500ft of rope, correct?
Ignore the obvious grammar mistake I made at the beginning.

I was hired as a scuba diving instructor. After few months, I had a severe asthma attack – later found out the quality of air at the dive center was below safety standards and employer would not have the compressor maintained or filter changed. I could not dive, therefore made no commission, and tried negotiating with the employer because I could no longer work. He said we will see. I told him I would like to resign because I could not fulfill my duties, he said we will see.

After almost 3 months of "we will see", I finally gave up and gave him a resignation. Few days later, he told me to just leave and he will cancel my visa. I believed it when my employer said that he will just cancel without trouble. Few weeks later he asked for my passport so that he can go cancel, I gave it to him.

Few weeks passed, each time I spoke to my employer, he said tomorrow. Nothing happened, so I filed a complaint with the Ministry of Labour to have my visa canceled and passport returned.

We met at the labour office, my employer, myself and legal adviser from the labour office. I was given a 1 year ban for failing to give one month notice in writing. By the time my employer finally got me my work permit, I was already unable to dive, which means according to the labour contract submitted officially, I worked less than 3 months.

What can I do when I did give notice but was told to just go after few days? I could not work anyway. My replacement was already working when I was asked to leave. Labour office says that I should have gone to complain to them right away, and the only thing I did wrong was believe my employer when he said that he will cancel my visa.

Also, my employer has a friend inside the labour office.

Don’t I have any rights here?
In Abu Dhabi

Employer didn’t pay commission he owes me, it’s been 2+ months since I worked, I have no money to pay lawyer
Excuse me Trooper, it was the company in Dubai that approached me only 2 weeks ago and offered me a job

I’ve had so many job offers since I’ve been here, none of which I accepted because I already had a job. I have ethics.

may you tell wheather my thesis statment is clear?
is the organisation good?
( it is arguments against banning dangerous sports )

Today, many sports are becoming increasingly regulated. Boxing, rugby, soccer, and other games are being targeted by sports bodies and medical organizations in an effort to improve safety standards and to reduce injuries. However, for some people, this is not enough, and they would rather see some dangerous sports banned completely. In this essay, I will examine some arguments against banning dangerous sports.
Sports, competition, and games seem to be natural to humans. Young children learn their own limits and strengths through play with others, but they also learn valuable social lessons about what acceptable behavior and the rights of others. Sport therefore is not just a physical phenomenon, but a mental and social one.
Challenging sport provides a healthy, largely safe, physical outlet for aggression. There is very little evidence to show that people who take part in dangerous sports become violent as a result. In fact it is more likely that apart from the many friendships created in playing, sport acts as a safety valve for a society by reducing stress. Moreover, sport teaches and requires discipline, training, and respect for the rules – valuable lessons in any society.
Almost all sports involve some risk. Young rugby players are paralysed every year in scrums. Scuba-diving accidents can lead to brain damage or death. Even golf or jogging can lead to pain or injury. Without some elements of risk or challenge, sport becomes meaningless. A marathon runner trying to improve his time, basketball players fiercely battling an opposing team, or a sky-diving team defying gravity – all are trying to push themselves to their maximum. There is therefore no sport without danger.
There is also the issue of freedom. Without a wide range of sports, many people would feel trapped or limited. People should be free to participate in activities with others as long as it does not affect the safety of non-participants.
There also should be limits to the power of governments to ban sports. If one sport is banned because of alleged danger, then what sport would be next? Boxing is the most common target of opponents of dangerous sports. But if boxing is banned, would motor racing follow, then rugby, wrestling, or weightlifting? Furthermore, many sports would go underground, leading to increased injury and illegal gambling.
Nobody denies that regulation is needed. Medical bodies have introduced safety rules in boxing, in soccer, and these safety regulations have been welcomed by players. But the role of government should be reduced.
In conclusion, our society would be healthier if more people took part in sports of all kinds. We should continue to try to prevent accidents and injuries. However, we should also ensure that sports are challenging, exciting, and, above all, fun.

any suggestions are appreciated
