Truk Lagoon Ghost Fleet

Truk Lagoon also called Chuuk Lagoon is one of the worlds best wreck diving  destinations in the world.  I have had the pleasure of logging over 100 dives on the wrecks at Truk Lagoon

On Feb. 17th 1944 the american attack group number 58 made up of 9 aircraft carriers, 6 battleships, 10 cruisers, and 28 destroyers would start their attack called operation hailstone.

The attack began with seventy two F6F Hellcats and Avengers their job was to clear the skies of  Japanese fighters so the slower Averger torpedo bombers and the Dauntles dive bombers could do their jobs.
